Gingerbread Cake Family Fun

Combine:
2 1/3 C. flour
1 ½ t. ground ginger
1 t. cinnamon
¾ t. baking soda
½ t. salt
In a separate bowl cream:
½ C. butter, melted
1/3 C. brown sugar
Add:
1 C. molasses
1 egg
¾ C. hot water
Add this mixture to dry ingredients in beat on medium speed for about 1 minute.
Pour batter into greased and floured 8 inch square baking pan.
Bake in a 325 degree preheated oven for 40 minutes until toothpick inserted in middle comes out clean.
Serve with:
Whipped cream
